Writing lesson plans with online help
Writing lessons plans can be a daunting task for a new teacher. Perhaps
you’re a seasoned teacher but you feel your lesson plans are in a rut. No matter
what your level of education, it doesn’t hurts to
see what others are doing when you’re trying to figure out what will work for
you.
Learn from other educators on what works
Go online to find a large number of sample lesson plans, most of them split
up by subject and grade level. Here are a few of my favorite teacher sites with
sample lesson plans:
• http://www.lessonsplanspage.com. This site has over 2,500 free lesson plans
that you can look at in many different subjects. It’s a very fast site that was
developed by the University of Missouri to help its college students write their
own lesson plans.
• http://www.lessonplancentral.com. This site has tons of lesson plans, not all
of them on the site it self, many of them are linked to other sites. It also
contains lessons and worksheets.
• http://www.proteacher.com. This site has been around for a while. It has so
many lesson plans and ideas that it archives them! You could spend hours reading
the different lesson plans available here.
Most lesson plans have the following sections:
• grade level
• subject
• duration
• objectives or goals
• prerequisites
• materials
• description of lesson
• lesson procedure
• how you’re going to assess or evaluate what the students learn
