Writing ideas in 10 easy steps

For many people, coming up with topics or writing ideas is what stops their assignment cold. There are many writers out there for whom there isn’t enough time in the day (or night) to pursue all of their writing topics. Then there are the rest of us. If you have trouble coming up with an idea for your next writing assignment, don’t waste another minute twiddling your thumbs.

Breeze through educators’ writing requests by coming up with ideas easily

Getting an education is hard enough without having a topic for your next assignment. The next time you find yourself stuck without a writing topic, use this list. I guarantee you’ll come up with a good idea before you ever reach the end:

Idea Generator # 1: Read the news.

Idea Generator # 2: Open up a magazine.

Idea Generator # 3: Look around your room.

Idea Generator # 4: Watch TV (but not for too long).

Idea Generator # 5: Go to a bookstore and pick a topic based on a book that you want to read.

Idea Generator # 6: Think about a personal hobby or interest.

Idea Generator # 7: Keep a dream journal near your bed for a couple of days. Write down your first thoughts in the morning or if you should wake up in the middle of the night.

Idea Generator # 8: Go to the library and find an interesting book. You can usually come up with some ideas out of a book that interests you.

Idea Generator # 9: Brainstorm. Just sit down and write whatever comes to mind. Keep writing until you can’t stand it anymore. There’s got to be a good topic idea somewhere!

Idea Generator # 10: Pull out your dictionary (or any trusted tome you have in your house). Randomly turn to a page and put your finger down on a word. That’s your topic.
