Writing essays is an important part of your degree
program
Writing essays for many students becomes an unpleasant experience that they
must go through in order to get their degree. Instead of seeing essay writing as
an unpleasant chore, consider making it a part of your career builder strategy
instead.
Improve your education experience by getting your writing
basics down
What you should learn sooner than later is that effective writing is an
important component of just about anybody’s successful
education and career. So the sooner you learn to write well, the better your
schoolwork and your career (after school) will be.
Successful writing usually follows a formula:
• Consider your audience or topic.
• Research your topic at a high level. Brainstorm if you know your topic well
enough.
• Work and write out an outline. Include an introduction and a conclusion.
• Research or make notes if you know your topic well.
• Write!
• Review, proofread and revise!
Probably the most important thing for you to consider when writing essays is the
purpose of your essay. Even the most well written essay won’t get you an “A+” if
you didn’t write it so that it fits the purpose of your assignment.
Finally, if you’ve tried to improve your essay writing yourself but you’re still
having problems earning top marks, consider getting help. Most distance learning
colleges offer free writing work shops where student volunteers and educators
can help you with your writing. Don’t suffer alone!
