Writing an essay in 6 easy steps
Writing an essay can be an overwhelming and confusing task if you just sit
down with a blank piece of paper or computer screen and tell yourself, “write!”
Instead of torturing yourself this way, consider what has worked for other
students who have found themselves tasked with
essay writing while working on their
education.
Educators suggest pre-writing tasks
Educators usually suggest that you break your writing task down. Writing
essays really involves many different steps, some of them are pre-writing tasks.
One should always be post-writing. They basically involve a more organized
approach that breaks writing down into logical steps. Here they are:
Essay writing task # 1: Understand your assignment. What type of essay are you
writing?
Essay writing task # 2: Decide on your topic.
Essay writing task # 3: Either brainstorm notes or do research so that you can
develop how you want to organize your essay.
Essay writing task # 4: Create an outline for your essay. Include an
introduction, a conclusion, and 3-5 paragraphs for the body of the essay.
Essay writing task # 5: Write!
Essay writing task # 6: Proofread your essay. Did you create what you set out to
do (logically)? Review the paper for mechanical errors.
Now you’ll find that you won’t approach essay writing with the same trepidation
as you did before. You’ll also find it easier to get help when you’re better
organized with your writing. Become a better writer and you may get the reward
of new careers.
