Persuasive essay writing requires research

At its bare bones, a persuasive essay is no different than any other essay that you write. It requires a topic, research, an outline, content, revisions and proofreading. When working on your college education, plan on being assigned many persuasive essays to write (another term for them are argumentative essays).

Education professionals look for effective means of persuasion

Persuasive essays are written with the sole purpose of convincing readers that the writer’s point of view on a topic is the only valid response to that essay topic. But to be effective at persuading the audience, the argumentative essay must have compelling content that convinces the reader that the writer is right with their essay’s point of view.

If you need help figuring out how to be persuasive in your essay, look at what magazine articles or advertisements do to convince readers:

• Use statistics in essay to persuade audience that your point of view is correct.
• Use quotes in essay to show that leaders or authorities share your opinion.
• Include case studies, personal stories, or examples demonstrating your point of view within your essay.
• Tackle competitor’s claims head-on. Anticipate what the reader’s reservations will be about your essay’s point of view and address them.

If you need more help with your writing, consider taking a distance learning course that focuses on writing persuasive essays.
