Online college opens avenues for students

Many of you have come across the occasional distance learning offering: a correspondence course that you do at home, mail in your work, and get credit for it. But in the last five years, with the advent of the Internet, the online college has pushed education through a whole other paradigm.

Some students pursue Masters and PhD level programs with online education

With online colleges, you’re not limiting your college experience to just one or two courses. You’re signing up to get a complete degree via a distance learning program. Educators and students meet together in a virtual classroom of threaded discussion groups, submit essays and short answers for participation, and work as virtual teams to submit group assignments. When you’re finished with a class, you get real college credit for your work.

If you already have a degree and you’re not interested in getting educated in a different field, don’t pass online colleges up. Many online colleges offer Master’s and PhD level programs. The University of Phoenix Online, for example, offers nine different Masters of Business programs, as well as Masters programs in Nursing and Education. They offer PhD level educational programs in Health Administration and Education.

The great thing about programs that are available online is that you can do your homework when it’s convenient to you. You can work your college classes around your busy schedule. College doesn’t have to impact your job or your work outs, or even dinner with your family.
