1. Get acquainted with all major job search sites. They provide a wealth of
free help via articles posted online. You can find tons of tips and hints on
writing your resume at Career Builder. At their
site, after clicking on “Advice and Resources,” look for the “Career Advice” tab
for resume help.
2. Don’t start from scratch. Staring at a blank piece of paper can be an
intimidating place to start your resume. Find sample resumes online at job
search sites. Monster has sample resumes for you to look at as well as an in
depth treatment of the different components of a resume.

3. You don’t have to write the resume on your own.
You can actually start with a resume template that you then personalize for
yourself. This makes a lot of sense for new college graduates. CollegeGrad.com
has almost 200 resume templates available for you to download for free.
4. If you’d like even more free help, check out the help that many colleges
offer for free online. The University of Minnesota’s has a free online resume
tutor. You can save your work as you go through the steps online to build your
